MND Gas Storage Germany GmbH, a member of the MND Group, has bought two underground storage facilities from the German company Uniper Energy Storage GmbH in a transaction that took effect on 1 April 2016. The facilities have a total capacity for 200 million cubic meters of gas and are located in Hähnlein and Stockstadt, Hessen (Germany).
According to the Chairman of the Board of MND Gas Storage, Karel Luner, the deal reflects MND Group's development strategy, which includes plans to enlarge the corporation's gas storage portfolio in Europe. "The two facilities will allow us to provide storage flexibility to the German natural gas market," explained Luner.
MND Gas Storage currently operates underground gas storage in Uhřice. The facility is one of the fastest in the Czech Republic, and its operating parameters contribute to the stability and security of supply of the Czech gas system. The German acquisition deal further increases the MND Group's storage capacity. Together with the Uhřice gas storage and a facility in Dambořice, which is currently under construction, the company's storage capacity amounts to nearly one billion cubic meters.
