Dvořák Prague to feature world premiere and rare manuscript of The Jacobin

A concert performance of Dvořák’s The Jacobin will be one of the festival's highlights. Audiences will have the unique opportunity to hear the opera live and see the composer’s original autograph manuscript. This unique manuscript, Op. 84, with a libretto by Marie Červinková Riegrová, offers a rare insight into Dvořák's creative process. It will be on special display at the Antonín Dvořák Museum throughout September.

Which world premiere will be featured at this year's Dvořák Prague festival?

Alongside Dvořák’s The Jacobin, the festival will present another significant highlight of this year's programme. Jan Kučera’s Double Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra, commissioned by the festival, will receive its world premiere on 15 September 2026 at the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum. It will be performed by cellist Sakura Toba, violinist Daniel Matejča and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Elias Grandy. This concert will also mark the 100^(th) anniversary of the orchestra’s foundation.

What is the Dvořák Prague festival?

It is both a celebration of the musical genius of Antonín Dvořák, one of the world’s most acclaimed Czech composers, and a major cultural and social event. It brings together leading soloists, conductors, and internationally renowned orchestras and chamber ensembles. These artists come to Prague to perform Dvořák's music, as well as works by other renowned composers, for an international audience.

Who organises and supports the festival?

The festival is organised by the Academy of Classical Music. Entrepreneur and philanthropist Karel Komárek is a co-founder of the festival and has supported it for many years through the Karel Komárek Family Foundation. The festival also receives long-term support from the Czech Ministry of Culture, the City of Prague and other partners and patrons.
