The Dvořák Prague International Music Festival 2025 closed with an extraordinary concert. In the packed hall of Prague’s Rudolfinum, the programme featured, among other works, George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto performed by pianist Rudolf Buchbinder, accompanied by the Orchestre National de France, under the baton of Cristian Măcelaru.
The 18th edition of the Dvořák Prague International Music Festival offered a rich variety of concerts, recitals, and educational programmes. Over 19 days, 37 events took place. In addition to more than 20 concerts, the festival also presented a diverse accompanying programme: a family day, masterclasses, and the popular “Meet After Applause” gatherings. A total of 16,000 people attended Dvořák Prague.
This year featured the Dvořák Collection once more, with a focus on Dvořák’s songs. The programme was enriched by an innovative, more relaxed series called No Tie, which brought five concerts in venues such as the informal setting of Divadlo X10 and the modern Nová Spirála at Prague’s Výstaviště.
“The aim of the No Tie series was to present music in all its shades and from perspectives that can both inspire and entertain. The audience’s interest and immediate reactions confirmed that concerts like these will continue to have a place in our programme,” said Jan Simon, Director of Dvořák Prague.
The final evenings of the Concertino Praga competition showcased exceptionally talented musicians from around the world. The festival’s highlights included performances by world‑class orchestras such as: the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra under Alain Altinoglu with soloists Gautier Capuçon and Julian Rachlin, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden with Chief Conductor Daniele Gatti and pianist Kirill Gerstein.
Other festival highlights included the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and Renaud Capuçon under Manfred Honeck, as well as the Orchestre National de France, which brought the festival to a festive close with Gershwin’s work.
At Dvořák Prague 2025, musicians from 23 different countries performed a total of 116 musical works by 49 composers.
The next edition of Dvořák Prague Festival will take place from 5 to 23 September 2026. Read more here: dvorakovapraha.cz
