World-renowned artist Refik Anadol will present his latest NFT artwork at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

Visitors of this year's Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will witness the European premiere of Refik Anadol’s award-winning NFT artwork, entitled “Machine Hallucinations: Coral Dreams”. The digital sculpture combines advanced artificial intelligence with extensive research and mapping of ocean corals around the world. The exhibition will be on display in Karlovy Vary's Smetana Gardens from July 3rd to 9th.

Following its successful premiere at Art Basel Miami Beach, Refik Anadol’s Machine Hallucinations: Coral Dreams is coming to Europe. The NFT painting drew inspiration from more than 1.7 million images of ocean coral. A special program processed 300 million pieces of data on how this unique underwater ecosystem functions. The result is a digital artwork that promises an experience that the Czech Republic has never seen before.

"To create ‘Machine Hallucinations: Coral Dreams’, we collected over a million photos of underwater environments, mostly from open sources. We then created a special program that turned this data into a live animation using machine learning," says Anadol Refik. "The works in the Machine Hallucinations series provide a glimpse into the capabilities of artificial intelligence in creating its own visions of nature and human existence," adds the artist.

The Machine Hallucinations: Coral Dreams digital scuplture will be unmissable in Karlovy Vary. The visual artwork will be projected on 162 LED panels with a total area of 9x9 metres. The special construction consists of 1 412 parts and will be 11.67 metres tall. The installation of the work will take 10 days.

This unique artistic experience is brought to Karlovy Vary by international lottery company Allwyn, part of the KKCG Group. KKCG has been a partner of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival for 11 years. This year, KKCG presents Allwyn - its fastest growing company - at this important film event.

The screening in Karlovy Vary's Smetana Gardens will be one of the few opportunities for the Czech audience to publicly encounter NFT (non-fungible token) artwork on such a large scale. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with an outdoor sitting area, bar, and an Organics drink specially-made for this occasion.

NFTs are artworks that can be bought and sold online via blockchain technology, making these creations more unique and accessible to a wider audience than ordinary paintings or sculptures. Showcasing Machine Hallucinations: Coral Dreams in Karlovy Vary will develop this new genre of art in the Czech Republic and Central Europe.
