The DataSpring Company opened today a new data center in Lužice. The facility will offer state-of-the-art data infrastructure and security technologies as well as employment opportunities to candidates in the Hodonín region.
The location of data center has been selected to provide DataSpring's clients with comprehensive coverage of the Central European region. Situated near Brno, the Czech Republic's IT capital, Lužice is also easily accessible from Prague, Bratislava, and Vienna. Another factor in choosing the locality was the need to minimize potential risks, such as natural disasters, and to allow the facility to operate without an external source of power. Uninterrupted operation is possible thanks to two independent power supply cabling systems and 2 + 1 diesel generators.
Committed to environmental protection and aware of the need to optimize energy consumption, DataSpring has designed the Lužice data center to function as a "green" facility, as its PUE coefficient, which shows power usage effectiveness, is below 1.4.
The new data center features a capacity for as many as 10,000 servers, and its depository is able to hold 30 petabytes of data. Were such a volume of data be recorded on DVDs with a capacity of 4.7 GB, 6.7 million DVD discs would be necessary.
Fully owned by the KKCG investment group, DataSpring is committed to improving the situation on the regional labor market by offering jobs to young people. "We want to give an opportunity to students without experience by offering internships and part-time positions. We plan to cooperate with selected universities," explained Martin Smekal, the CEO of DataSpring.
"At present, our clients are companies from the KKCG group, but we are establishing and developing business relationships with other clients from the commercial sector to whom we offer services of the highest quality," Smekal added.
DataSpring holds a Tier III certificate issued by the Uptime Institute. Tier III essentially guarantees uninterrupted operation of IT systems, where the maintenance of installed technologies has no effect on the operation of the facility. Tier III certification testifies to the high level of quality and availability of the data center's services, as only three companies in the Czech Republic hold a Tier III certificate. The availability of Tier III data centers amounts to 99.982%.
