MND launches the largest battery storage facility in the Czech Republic

MND has commissioned the largest standalone battery storage facility in the Czech Republic in Břeclav. The system, with a power output of 12 MW and a total capacity of 31 MWh, will help balance fluctuations between electricity generation and consumption and improve the stability of the transmission grid. Battery storage is one of the key technologies of modern energy systems. Alongside enhancing energy security, it can also contribute to lowering electricity prices for households and businesses over time.

“The Břeclav battery storage facility, with a power output of 12 MW and a capacity of 31 MWh, is the first of seven projects we are bringing online this year. It represents a major investment in a technology that will play an increasingly important role in modern energy systems. Battery storage is also closely linked to MND’s other commercial activities, particularly the use of flexibility in the wholesale market and the provision of ancillary services for transmission system operators, which are essential for grid stability. The combination of these services and our work with flexibility enables us to further develop this segment as a fully fledged business.”
