MND launches the largest battery storage facility in the Czech Republic

MND, part of KKCG’s energy pillar, began preparing the project in 2023. The company invested nearly EUR 10 million in the Břeclav facility. The system is designed for an operational lifetime of approximately 15 years. Construction is being carried out by a consortium of Czech companies BUILDSYS and IBG.

The Břeclav battery storage facility also stands out for the robustness of its overall system design. Individual components are arranged to prevent mutual interference and overheating. Each cabinet has its own dedicated cooling system. In the event of a malfunction, a single cell can be replaced without affecting the operation of the remaining batteries. The entire facility is designed for maximum functionality and efficiency and can operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including in freezing and high temperature conditions that typically reduce performance in other battery systems.

In addition to Břeclav, MND plans to launch seven more battery storage facilities this year, including in Hodonín, Blansko, Bruzovice, Orlová, and Mušov. Altogether, the company aims to have battery systems with a combined output of around 42 MW and a capacity exceeding 108 MWh in operation this year. MND will invest tens of millions of euros in this segment in 2026 alone and is also planning to expand its battery storage projects abroad, with developments already underway in Germany. These investments significantly increase MND’s focus on energy storage and confirm that the company sees batteries as a key pillar of its future business.

MND will also use the Břeclav facility for electricity trading, supported by smart autonomous algorithmic models operating 24/7. These models independently make decisions, execute trades, and manage the charging and discharging of batteries both on the open market and in the provision of ancillary services.
