Together with his wife Štěpánka Komárková, he co-founded the Karel Komárek Family Foundation (KKFF). KKFF focuses on community development, the sustainable transformation of urban spaces, and the support of culture and arts education.
KKFF has provided over 70 Czech art schools with new pianos as part of the Pianos for Schools project to improve the quality of arts education. The project had a direct impact on 8,000 piano students, 620 educators, and 46,000 art school students.
KKFF continues to improve school gardens and playgrounds across the Czech Republic so that children have places to learn and develop in an outdoor environment.
KKFF has a longstanding tradition of renovating parks, public spaces, urban greenery, and school gardens. Since 2006, it has successfully completed more than 50 projects.
KKFF provides support to those affected by the war in Ukraine. The foundation is a partner in a project aimed at helping children access extra-curricular activities. The project has supported approximately 3,000 families thus far.
KKFF allocated 150 million CZK to support the Hodonín region's recovery from a devastating tornado in 2021. The aid is intended for the long-term reconstruction of damaged communities and was also used for immediate assistance to families affected.
