Moravské naftové doly wants to increase its customer portfolio past the 20,000th customer mark by the end of this year. Last May, the company added electricity to its portfolio of gas products, and electric power now accounts for 30% of new contracts. The firm's Sales Director Ludvík Baleka considers the figures promising. Ludvík Baleka, the Director of the Gas Sales Division of Moravské naftové doly (MND), has unveiled the company's plan to increase the number of customers to 20,000 by year end. During the three months since it entered the market, MND has signed 6,000 gas supply contracts. In May, the company added electric power to its portfolio, and electricity now accounts for roughly a third of new customer acquisitions.
"Our growth so far is very promising," says Baleka in an interview for the IHNED.cz news service.
iHNed.cz: How many contracts have you signed since you began supplying gas to residential customers in February?
At the time we entered the market, we made it clear that our objective was to be different from existing suppliers. We want to differentiate ourselves not only by offering a unique product, but also, and more importantly, by adopting a different attitude toward our clients. During the first three months, there have been over 6,000 people who expressed interest in switching to MND. That, we consider an exceptional success.
Plus, we continue to analyze our customers' needs and suggestions with a view to further improving our portfolio of products and services. Relatively often, we have to assure clients that switching their energy supplier doesn't mean that other changes are necessary. Sometimes we need to explain that there is no need to lay a new service line to their home.
iHNed.cz: You entered the electricity market last May; is everything going according to plan?
Entering the electricity market was, in fact, a response to suggestions made by our customers. Since then, 30% of all new contracts have been for electric power, which is very promising. It's only logical that residential customers should be able to get all their energy supplies from Moravské naftové doly.
iHNed.cz: How many customers from the residential segment do you want to acquire by the end of the year?
This year's target is to have over 20,000 Czech households signed up in total, for both gas and electricity. It's quite an ambitious figure, but based on our knowledge of the market and of interest in our services so far, I'm convinced that the target will be met.
iHNed.cz: Do you still aim to have 200,000 gas supply points by the end of 2016?
Yes, we do. MND Firsthand Gas is a part of the KKCG investment group's portfolio. KKCG always aspires to be among the leading players in a given market segment. We want to cultivate the marketplace, to follow the latest trends, and, most importantly, to act in an honest and reliable manner toward customers.
iHNed.cz: In which regions are people most inclined to switch their electricity supplier?
MND's products are available to customers throughout the Czech Republic, and we are pleased that people in all parts of the country find them attractive. Unsurprisingly, MND Firsthand Gas is more popular among customers in the regions where the density of the gas supply network is highest, specifically Prague, Central Bohemia, and North and South Moravia.
